Certified Marriage Educators provide training, skills and
knowledge to individuals, couples, and families who need to explore and
solve relationship problems.
The goals at each of our Centers are to teach couples to
understand their differences, lessen Marital and Relationship conflict, and
improve marital satisfaction, along with providing a more stable environment
for the couple as well as their families.
The primary function of each Certified Marriage Educator is to provide structure, support, education, feedback and assist their client in creating what each client believes is needed to achieve their goal.
America's divorce rate has held steady at over 50% for
almost 35 years for first time marriages. The divorce rate is even higher
for a second or third time marriage.
Researchers have now discovered effective approaches to
curtailing relationship discord and distress. They have determined what
actions to take to build a strong, happy, satisfying and long lasting
marriage.
Couples who stay together have the same number of
conflicts as couples who divorce. They often disagree about the same issues:
money, communication, in-laws, children, household chores, recreational
activities etc…
If marriage and
Committed Relationships can be compared to a shiny, smooth, bright and
beautiful rock, laying at the edge of a flowing stream. With most
relationship disillusionments and conflicts being the same as taking a
hammer to that rock and chipping away at its beauty. In time, that once
beautiful rock will be nothing more than a pile of dust.
The great news is that skills can be taught to avoid the
dreaded disillusionment of marriage and relationships, which at times can be
all consuming.
The union of two coming from different families, life styles, beliefs, and values is a true formula for disaster. If couples are properly prepared, their disagreements will not have them thinking, "Why am I with this person?"
When a couple decides
to be together they are filled with expectations of what is to be. Prior to
their ceremony or actually living together they enjoy the highest of
expectations. These thoughts are of what we perceive our relationship to be.
Our imagination and fantasies dictate the pictures we have drawn of our
perfect relationship and what it would be like.
